By now we are confident you are scrolling past your thousandth post on the activities surrounding Miami’s Art Basel blitz. The press, the paparazzi, the painfully serious celebrities and art world wanna-bes have clogged the streets, blocked the bars and made it nearly impossible to go to Publix without VIP credentials. So let’s start the bonfire!
Las Tias, Wynwood’s most popular resale shop at the corner of 29 Street and North Miami Avenue, will host ART BURN tonight at sunset. Stop by during the day from 1- 6pm and feast your eyes on original works of art from nearly 40 internationally renowned artists. Wander through Miami’s funky consignment shop and see what all the fuss is about, because when the sun goes down…
EVERYTHING BURNS.
That’s the kicker! None of the art is for sale. Nothing on display is for profit. The combined efforts of all of these talented craftsmen is subject to art appreciation alone and then it will all be set on fire as the sun goes down. The exhibition is curated by New York City artist El Celso for just 5 hours of public view before it is destroyed. Stand back and sip some free beer with your fellow well-dressed aesthetes while making sweeping existential statements about the brevity of life, the all-consuming nature of fire and the crass materialism of collecting art.
Included in the blaze will be original works by Stikman, El Celso, Aurora Robson, infinity, Nick Fortunato, Skewville, Jayne Surrena, Darkcloud, Fabian Pena, Elbow-Toe, Rex Dingler, LA II, Royce Bannon, Leonardo Furtado (Brazil), Rednose, Gore-B, Buildmore, Abe Lincoln Jr., Cake, Paul Kostabi, Ellis-G, Jeannete Vidalia, 2esae, Avoid Pi, Stefano Pasquini (Italy), Keely, Destroy & Rebuild, Veng, F. Trainer, Ski, Joanne Mattera, Deeker, Sam Horine, Avone, Die Dose (Germany), Billi Kid, Evelyn Metzger, Robots Will Kill, Adam Vincentz, Garrison Buxton (Peripheral Media Projects), Michael DeFeo, James A. Willis, Dalva, Kristina Maria Lopez, Hargo, Ray Bradbury, and more.
The aftermath will look like Wynwood next week when Art Basel Miami is but a memory…
Las Tias is located at 2834 North Miami Avenue. ART BURN takes place Thursday, December 3 from 1pm-6pm.
why would they do that?.
