This year’s edition of Art Basel Miami Beach rolls around December 1-4, 2011 and the local art community is already buzzing with anticipation of a banner year thanks to a rumored increase in cutting edge “Art Public” installations.

Art Public is the part of Art Basel Miami Beach where singular, stand-alone art exhibits are placed at strategic locations around Miami Beach with the notion of increasing the public’s consumption of, and participation in, Art Basel Miami Beach.

Those with advanced notice of this year’s installations aren’t talking on the record, but reading beyond their winks and smiles (impossibly wide grins, actually) when we broach the subject, we’re thinking that some rather large and eminently newsworthy events are soon to be announced.
Do we anticipate events that rize to the level of Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s surrounding of eleven Biscayne Bay islands with pink polypropylene floating fabric back in 1983? One can only hope…
