seid1This is a photographic event we’ve been looking forward to for some time now.

Dharma Studio Contemporary Art in Coconut Grove presents “Behind the Lens,” a lecture by international photographer, Barry Seidman, regarding the techniques and materials used in his exhibition Three Sides of Seidman.

The event will take place Saturday, May 9th, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m at Dharma Studio Contemporary Art, 3170 Commodore Plaza, Coconut Grove.

The exhibition is open to the public and showcases Seidman’s Blooms, Bagged and One World series, which runs through May 23rd. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday, 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. For more information, call (305) 461-1777.

After a two-month review of artist’s submissions the acclaimed Miami collective, Artformz Alternative will announce the addition of new artists to the group and presents an exhibit featuring their work.

The gallery welcomes new artists to its select group and opens the month of May with a presentation of their work. Artformz reviews and selects a very limited number of artists for the gallery’s yearly program of exhibitions, media projects, performances, and off site cultural events. (more…)

e1238Portrait, Rowley’s first solo exhibition in Miami, is an intimate exploration of a variety of personal objects that belonged to her father who passed away 2 years ago. The images in this exhibition are a collection of artifacts from his life–objects he used and touched repeatedly–and they relate to the artist’s interest in the ideas of impressions, residues, and evidence, which are at the core of the photographic process. The photographs comprise a metaphorical portrait of the artist’s father, but they go beyond any sentimental value. (more…)

The Making of Giants at ArtFormz

The original 10 artists from the “Giants in the City” Miami 2008 Premier Exhibit – present their sketches and designs on paper and other medium that led up to each artist’s final design and inflatable sculpture for the acclaimed exhibit. February Exhibit at Artformz in Miami
